dear diary,

its hard to believe another year is coming to an end (or, if you're an optimist, another year is coming to a start.)

it does seem like forever ago since last new years, when i went with my sister and a group of her bitches, i mean friends, to cancun. that trip turned out to be my worst one ever...maybe that's why it seems like a distant memory.

since then, so much has changed...yet so much has stayed the same.

the relationship between boyfriend and the puppy has risen to a "cool" level, up considerably from a "cold" beginning.

there have been lots of personnel changes in my group at work, though i am still there...unhappily there. i suspect more personnel changes next week, when our parent company finally eats us up. i have all my fingers and toes crossed that, when they do eat us up, they chew me up and spit me out (translation = lay me off). its time for me to go, and i have patiently hung on by a thread for months waiting to become a casualty of the acquisition so i can collect unemployment while i look for a new job. pray for me y'all.

i am officially a heifer. the combination of boyfriend's amazing cooking and my total lack of exercise have caused me to be the heaviest i have ever been. i don't want to call it a resolution, because people with resolutions generally fail, but i have got to get control of myself!!!

everyone i know has a baby or two these days which surprises me. clearly, i suffer from peter pan syndrome because it is astonishing to me how anyone my age could have children...and i am 35 and 3/4 years old! i still don't hear my clock ticking, which makes me wonder if motherhood is something i even want in my future. i am very happy raising my four-legged baby!

tomorrow we are heading to the napa valley for a few nights, for some wine tasting, good food, and much-needed time with friends.

2009 looks to be a good year. i'm hoping for a new job. looking forward to vacation in europe. suspecting a diamond on my finger by mid-year, and maybe a small, little wedding by year's end. hmmm...it will be interesting to come back to this entry at the end of 2009, just to see how many of my "predictions" actually come true.
