30 October 2007 - 9:52 p.m. dear diary, we had an earthquake tonight and now i feel nauseous and...scared. i've lived my whole life here in northern cali. i was home alone during the big 6.9 quake in 1989 (i was 16 years old). you'd think i'd be used to this rocking and rolling after 34+ years. um...no. experiencing an earthquake never becomes even an "acquired taste." no matter how many times you ride one out, you never get used to them. or like them. when tonight's quake hit, i was on the phone with me sister. i said, "shit, i think we're having an earthquake." then i dove under the dining room table, while my pup ran around the house barking his head off, trying to protect mommy from the earthquake. tonight's wasn't even a big one...a 5.5 or 5.6. in the geological world, that's considered "moderate". the worst is yet to come...and i am scared shitless. cali |
