dear diary,

on sunday, my sister came over to do some pre-wedding shopping. when she arrived, i led her to my room, explaining that i'd been doing a lot of cleaning out of my closets, and wanted to know if she wanted the things i'd been keeping "in storage" (in my closet) for her. she said she did, but couldn't take the things that day because she didn't have much room in her car.

"ok," i told her. "but, you're gonna have to get your stuff because i'm gonna need the space. and this is why..."

i slid open the closet door for a brief moment, exposing button's clothes hanging in all their pink glory.

"oh my god!" she jumped back, clearly unexpecting of my expecting news. "you're pregnant?"

of course, i started crying because that's what i seem to do these days when i talk about button.

after the initial shock, my sis realized she is going to be an aunt, and jumped up and down "i'm going to be an auntie!"

ever since, whenever i talk to her on the phone, the first thing she asks me is how's my niece?

it's very cute how news of a baby can change your family.

i am feeling a little nervous as of late because in some ways, at 26 1/2 weeks, i don't feel pregnant. the pressure i once felt in my belly has seemed to go away. and while i do feel occasional movements, they aren't as strong or as often as they were a few weeks ago. at my last doctor's appointment, the heartbeat was nice and strong, but i can't help but worry that something could be wrong now. it's in my nature to worry.

in other news, i went on a job interview at the university yesterday. and you know, it was a pure example of "the grass is always greener." as i sat there, being grilled by a committee of four somewhat frumpy-looking women, i had to remind myself i was at this prestigious university , and not at the DMV. working in the world of academia....i don't think that's the place for me.

oh, and the kicker is, as i walked across campus i missed a curb, rolled my ankle and have since barely been able to put any weight on my right foot. the only upside to this is that i'm working from home because of my injury.
