dear diary,

i didn't get to see too much of button at the ultrasound. we had to go to a different place for the third ultrasound because my insurance wouldn't cover a third ultrasound at the same place where the other two took place.

the new place didn't have a good set-up. there was only one screen and the sonographer had her big head in front of it most of the time. at one point the sonographer, a big african-american mama, talked to button through the screen saying "come on sweet baby. let auntie bev get a good look at your spine."

fiance was able to see things from where he stood. he said he thought everything looked fine. but i had to wait until the next day to talk to my doctor, who reviewed the results and like fiance, said everything looked just fine.

so, i guess button is just fine.

oh, and "auntie bev" confirmed that button is a girl.

i'm going to have a daughter! hot damn.

we got our marriage license today. it was weird to see my new name printed at the bottom. i'm officially a new name in 24 days. i'm mourning the loss of my last name, but at least it's not going far. i've decided to dump my controversial middle name and put my last name in its place.

i've been contacted to interview for a position i applied for months ago at a local, high-profile university. even though i just started my new job less than two months ago, i've decided to go on the interview. i'm not loving my new job. of course, if i were offered the job at the uni, i'd need to tell them about button before accepting.

my current job doesn't know about button. i am dreading that conversation. but i will make no apologies. this is my life....

and sometimes i have these moments where i think...is this really my life? not that it's a bad life. it's just amazing how quickly a life can change in the span of six months.

ok, button's hungry. time to feed her a burrito.
